What I Offer
Manual Osteopathic Therapy
Initial & Follow Up Sessions
A holistic, hands-on, approach that treats the whole body as an interconnected system. MOT aims to addresses the root causes of pain and discomfort and conditions, not just the symptoms, using gentle yet precise manual techniques.
- Your first session includes a health history and assessment to understand your overall physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing and how best to support your healing.
- MOT addresses the body’s adaptive patterns with assessment and a range of manual techniques to affect the musculoskeletal, nervous, circulatory, respiratory and lymphatic systems, as well as cranial rhythm and overall health of the body.
- Preventive wellness by enhancing your body’s ability to self heal. All systems function together – unprocessed stress can result in chronic tension which can result in restrictions in fluid flow, etc… essential is the movement of fluids and the role of the nervous system in controlling the flow of fluids.
Specific Techniques:
Osteoarticulations/Muscle Energy: aid in correcting structural imbalances in muscles, bones, joint and fascia found in the assessment. Neuromuscular techniques, passive stretching and muscle engagement may be used to align and release tension. May improve posture, reduce pain and restrictions, and optimize wellbeing.
Cranial Osteopathy/Craniosacral: helps restore balance with light touch that follows the cranial rhythm, a rhythmic pulse from the movement of the cranial bones, cerebrospinal fluid and motility of the central nervous system that can be felt in most places in the body. This technique helps to release tension, improve fluid flow and nerve functioning, allowing for emotional and physical relaxation and overall wellbeing.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage: applies gentle stokes to aid in fluid flow, congestion along lymphatic pathways, to help move waste and water to be filtered before returning to the bloodstream. Helps with immunity and overall health.
Visceral (organs) Manipulation & Neurovascular Points: through gentle pressure and attentive holds, the natural movement of organs, connective tissues, nerves and blood flow that surround them can be restored. Facilitates and encourages optimal functioning.
Myofascial (soft tissue) Remodeling & Release: this approach may use compression/pressure, holding until release is felt, stretching, and moving the body. Helps to restore natural movement and range of motion, increases fascial vitality and fluid flow, improving breath and blood flow, reduces and eliminates tension and trigger points.
Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
Focused on deeper layers of fascia, muscles and connective tissue to help provide relief of chronic tension, improve range of motion/mobility, circulation, and targets trigger points with localized pressure. “Therapy itself is an art and reflects the ability of the practitioner to utilize the combined experience of (him/her/themself) and others in dealing with the intricate clinical problems which are complicated by such intangible elements as human personality, unusual environmental circumstances and many physical and psychic aspects which are, as yet, unknown to factual science.”
